Add a permanent fall feeling to your home with Fayetteville, a landscape with abstract tendencies.
Fayetteville was inspired by the spectacular fall colors of the Ozark Mountains and named after Fayetteville, Arkansas. It’s part of my lifelong body of work of artwork about the state. Almost all of the work on this painting was done using palette knifes and slowly worked over many months as I allowed the oil paint to mostly dry between each layer. For the tree’s foliage I built up thick layers of impasto. I also cut layers of paint to allow underlying layers to show through. Highlights were created with several coats of glazing. The tree shimmers with beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows. I think of it as representational with abstract tendencies.
The heavy canvas is hand-stretched over thick 1.5″ stretcher bars, and the gallery-wrapped edges are painted so no framing is required. As always, I offer custom framing if requested.
