Long Road Home is a great example of a small painting that can take longer and is more work than one several times its size! I spent a very, very long time on this one. It’s signed 2018, but by early 2020 I decided I didn’t like the blue sky with wisps of clouds that I originally painted and that it should really be a dusk to night painting. I scraped off the sky with a wood chisel and repainted it. The bottom foreground of the painting has been varnished and sanded and re-varnished several times until I finally settled on the matte finish as it is now.
