Throwing Stones #2

Vibrant, rich, and full-of-life, this painting and the others in the Throwing Stones series literally pop off the surface in three-dimensional texture and detail. To create these paintings Terry sculpts thick layers of wet paint on the surface with air from an air compressor. Terry mixes the paint so that different colors have varying viscosities. Colors then mix and intermingle as Terry uses not a brush but compressed air to push, nudge, and splatter the wet pigment. His brushes become various nozzles and air guns that are swapped in and out as he also adjusts the air pressure up and down. As the different viscosities and layers of paint dry at different rates, Terry works and reworks the paint, applying layer after layer, until the image in his head is brought to life.
This the second painting of the “Throwing Stones” series of abstract paintings. The support is a cradled wooden panel measuring 20″ high by 24″ wide sitting 1.5″ off the wall with painted edges where the paint flowed off the surface and onto the sides, creating a three-dimensional, sculptural painting on your wall.
The painting ships ready-to-hang and does not have to be framed, but it could be if desired. Contact me if you are interested in custom framing for this or any of my artwork.
